New Mexico, the "Land of Enchantment", is a state in the southwestern United States. Though much of the state is dry desert, it is considered one of the mountainous states due to the extension of the rocky mountains through the state.
Santa Fe, the largest tourist city in the state, is a cultural and artistic hot spot. The state has been inhabited by indigenous peoples for hundreds of years, and the Santa Fe market offers a variety of modern and traditional indigenous art. In addition, there is a strong Mexican-American influence in the state and the culture.
The yucca plant is the state's official flower, and is common throughout the state. The famous artist Georgia O'Keefe lived in New Mexico, and her residence is now an official museum of her work.
